What We Do

Healthy Worthington Goals

Healthy Worthington strives to reach these goals:
• Increase availability of health education source materials
• Foster participation in on-going community health activities
• Provide program to facilitate and nurture wellbeing
• Create a viable health network for people of all ages & backgrounds to learn about events, places and opportunities for making healthy life choices.

Recent programs to reach these goals include the Healthy Worthington Roundtable, Worthington Walks, Gary Smith Classic, Historic Church Walk, Art People Walk, Nutrition Series, Food for Families and a drug awareness program.


Past Events Include: 

“The Heart of It All”  March 5, 2008, 7-8:30 p.m; The Heart of It All” program was presented by David A. Sabgir, M.D. as part of the Worthington Libraries and the Healthy Worthington Coalition lecture series.    This educational talk is for those interested in “getting on the road to heart health.”  The program was held at the Park National Bank, 7140 N. High St.

5th Annual Roundtable Breakfast; Friday, February 29, 2008; 7-9 am; Worthington Inn
649 High St., Old Worthington, Mark Myhal Ph.D. presents “401(f) Investing in Your Future”.

Options to Move the Body” – Thursday Jan. 17, 2008, 7-8:30 p.m; Worthington Community Center 345 E. Wilson Bridge Road; North Gym;  Event will include interactive demonstrations in Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, Belly Dancing, Laughter Yoga, Jump Rope, Cardio Kickboxing and Line Dancing.

The American Cancer Society's  Worthington Relay for Life is scheduled for Friday, June 15, 2007 starting at  6 p.m. through noon Saturday, June 16th at McCord Middle School on Hard Road.

Colonial Hills celebrates Healthy School Week May 14-18, 2007.; Mon: Be Active at Recess; Tues: Milk Day; Weds: Fruit and Veggies; Thurs: Smoothie Day; Friday: Family Fun Walk  Bring the whole family  on Friday May 18 for  the 1 mile Family Fun Walk starting at 3:00

 

Gary Smith Worthington May Classic: May 6; 5/mile run – 3 mile walk. Held in collaboration with the Worthington Parks and Recreation Department. Healthy Worthington sponsors the walk portion, which begins after the runners at 8:30 a.m.

 

Business Team Healthy Lunch: May 4, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Buca di Beppo, 60 East Wilson Bridge Rd, Worthington is the site of the first Business Team Healthy Lunch. This is the first topic of Building a Healthy Workforce Culture. During lunch, we will be discussing healthy eating habits and stretching at the work site.

 

Healthy Worthington Lecture Series: May 1, in partnership with Worthington Libraries, a series will be held at the Old, Worthington Library, 7-8:30 p.m., The last program in the 2006-2007 is Achieving “Wellness” Through Mindfulness, presented by Mary Byrley, Touchstone Counseling Services
